Lukla, Nepal

The difference in height between the two ends of the 518 metre runway in Lukla, Nepal, is about 60 meters.

The landing is always uphill. A go-around is not possible, the first attempt has to be “on the nose”.

Besides Twin Otter twin-engined turboprops, Mil helicopters are also used for supply flights to Lukla.
