In October 2004, the first-ever Drukair A319 arrived in Paro. Seconds before touch-down there is an opportunity to admire one of the numerous monasteries in the country.

On the arrival of the A319, monks and priests not only prayed for heavenly patronage but also marvelled at the technical accomplishments which are to benefit their country.

Paro’s airport is located in a narrow valley amidst the mountainous countryside.

A special show was put on to welcome the new Airbus. Dancers wearing silk and brocade dresses along with animal masks, performed a so-called Drum Dance.
